Fresh vs Frozen: Does It Make a Difference?
When it comes to airline meals, chilled has long been the standard. But as airlines look for new ways to improve consistency, reduce waste and offer greater choice, freshly frozen meals are becoming an increasingly attractive alternative.
To understand what passengers really think, we surveyed more than 450 airline passengers across the UK and Germany.
The results showed that passengers' priorities are remarkably consistent. Taste and quality came out as the two most important factors when it comes to airline meals, with freshness also ranking highly.
The research also highlighted the importance of choice. More than half of passengers told us they'd previously been unable to receive their preferred meal onboard, while almost eight in ten said having a wide range of meals available to pre order was important.
For airlines, freshly frozen meals can do much more than preserve quality. They can support pre-ordering, offer greater menu choice, improve meal availability and help deliver a consistent dining experience across a global network.
Those insights have helped shape our approach to the Monty's Entrées range. Our chef developed meals are frozen at their freshest, helping airlines deliver the taste and quality passengers expect, alongside the flexibility and consistency today's operations demand.
