Monty's Bakehouse Donate Over 1.3m Snacks and Meals to Local & Global Causes.

Through its work to help the homeless, the vulnerable and families affected by the pandemic,  Monty’s Bakehouse can announce that their continued efforts in donating food to local and global causes has surpassed 1.3 million delicious hot snacks and meals. Matt Crane, the CEO of Monty’s Bakehouse was on BBC Radio Surrey with Adrian Harms this morning to celebrate the news whilst also hoping to help raise awareness of some of it’s key local charities such as Merstham Mix Café and Renewed Hope Trust.

Matt discussed the opportunity Monty’s had to redivert food destined to passengers within the aviation industry to initiatives such as feeding NHS staff members, as well as working with multiple local and national charities to reach as many families as possible. He mentions that it’s been an “eye-opener” for the business, as more and more families across Surrey alone are seeing a drop in their income and are now having trouble keeping food on the table for their families.

One charity partner in particular who are only down the road from Monty’s is Merstham Mix Café. They offer wholesome meals to their local community, averaging around 50 meals a day and have now served over 10,000 meals with the help of donations since March last year. Their Head Chef, Neil, has been able to really utilise his skills in producing lots of different meal solutions based on ingredients and products donated by Monty’s Bakehouse. In January and February of 2021, the charity has served 350 meals a week to it’s local community members. Of those meals, Monty’s products have been included in meals 4 out of the 7 days a week, equalling in the business helping to serve around 800 meals within this one charity alone.

Alongside Merstham Mix Café, Monty’s Bakehouse have also worked with a variety of local and national charitable organisations such as Renewed Hope Trust, Thomas Franks Feeding Communities, Fareshare, City Harvest and Hilton Hotels, but have also worked with it’s airline customers on overseas initiatives reaching as far Northern Illinois Food Bank and Feeding Hong Kong.
