Our CEO smashes his London Marathon fundraising target

Overwhelming support from local community, colleagues and family

Monty's Bakehouse CEO Matt Crane has smashed his fundraising target after April’s London Marathon.

Matt Crane, CEO at South Nutfield-based airline food manufacturer Monty’s Bakehouse, ran the gruelling 26 mile course in memory of his father David, who sadly passed away in 2012 after a brief fight against Pancreatic Cancer.

“Before he died he asked that we continue to support The Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund (PCRF) run by Maggie Blanks who has raised over £6 million to fund research into a devastating disease where so little is understood and a diagnosis often comes far too late,” says Matt, whose father’s motto ‘Work hard play hard’ is framed and mounted at the office entrance. “Maggie’s story is inspirational and this marathon run was for them both.”

Due to overwhelming support from the local community, friends and colleagues, Matt exceeded his £10,000 target - eventually raising a staggering £14,767.10 which he and his family were thrilled to present to Maggie at the Orchard Barn offices near Priory Farm.

The funds will go towards essential research to save more lives from this devastating disease, the survival rate of which is only 3%.
